Star Indian off-spinner Deepti Sharma expressed confidence that the Indian Women's cricket team are on the verge of ending Australia's remarkable winning streak at home. With a narrow three-run win in the second ODI at Wankhede Stadium, Australia claimed an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, extending their dominance.

In a media interaction before India's training session, Deepti highlighted the team's overall improvement, emphasizing the positive aspect of taking the game against Australia to the end.

"Look, winning and losing is a part of the game — but we have improved as a team — be it as a bowling unit or batting. We will try to break their winning streak as soon as possible," she stated to the media as quoted by Hindustan Times, showcasing the team's determination to turn the tide.

Reflecting on the second ODI, Deepti praised the team's bowling unit, acknowledging the notable performances of debutant Shreyanka Patil and Richa Ghosh. Shreyanka Patil's debut spell of 1/43 and Richa Ghosh's fearless innings of 96 off 117 balls earned appreciation from the off-spinner.

"We did well as a bowling unit, the spinners and the pacers to have restricted them. At the same time the batters did well, their partnerships in between were good. It is not easy to perform so well in your first match which Shreyanka did. Richa played fearless cricket which was enjoyable to watch," she added.

Now I am focusing on tomorrow’s match: Deepti

Deepti, who bowled a fine spell of five for 38 in the second ODI, credited her improved performance to extensive bowling sessions at the nets. She focused on enhancing her strike rate and underlined the team's commitment to giving their best in every match.

“(If) I have to speak about my bowling, I have trained a lot. I have increased my bowling sessions and have also bowled in different phases such as with the new ball, or in the middle overs, or even how to bowl with the old ball in the death overs. Every team plays to win but some days you are able to pull it off and some days you are not. We gave it a good fight, took it till the end of the game and now I am focusing on tomorrow’s match,” she conclided.
