What is the state-wise distribution of players sold at IPL 2025 Mega Auction?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 mega auction in Jeddah was a blockbuster event that involved excitement, bidding wars, some surprises, and some notable absentees.  With 577 players under the hammer and 182 players ultimately securing contracts, the auction was a financial rollercoaster. The total investment of INR 639.15 crore shows how the franchises went after the best of talents.

Rishabh Pant made headlines with a record-breaking INR 27 crore deal with Lucknow Super Giants. Gujarat Titans made strong picks, acquiring players like Jos Buttler and Mohammad Siraj. Punjab Kings, with the largest purse of INR 110.50 crore, showed their intent to rebuild fully. They acquired 23 players and used 56% of their purse on three marquee players.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar became the youngest player ever sold, picked by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.1 crore. Furthermore, KL Rahul found a new home, moving to Delhi Capitals for INR 14 crore. On the other hand, some players experienced dramatic price fluctuations. Jitesh Sharma saw an extraordinary jump from INR 20 lakh to INR 11 crore, while Sam Curran's value dropped significantly from previous auctions.

Many teams even aggressively bid on domestic talents to have the right balance between Indian and foreign players in their roaster. While some states of India saw many of their players getting huge paychecks in the cash-rich league. On the other hand, some states didn't see any of their local talents finding a place in the league.
