Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are about to take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 26 of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) at BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. LSG skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bat first keeping the past record of the venue in mind.

Coming into the game on the back of three consecutive wins, Lucknow were forced to make a change as fast bowler Mayank Yadav got ruled out after experiencing soreness in his lower abdomen area after the previous game against Gujarat Titans.

Notably, Mayank has been the talk of the town this season due to his remarkable ability to bowl in excess of 150 kmph while having good control on line and length. The speedster is the joint highest wicket-taker for his side with six wickets to his name from three matches at an average of 9.0 and an economy of 6.0.

Mayank has been replaced by 26-year-old left-arm seamer Arshad Khan who will be playing the first game of the season. In the six matches played in his IPL career so far, Arshad has picked five wickets.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals also made a couple of changes to their playing XI coming into the fixture on the back of consecutive losses. They brought in their star wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav who missed the last three matches due to a niggle. DC further got the services of Mukesh Kumar who had also missed the last two matches of his side.

DC benched Lalit Yadav and Anrich Nortje

To make way for Kuldeep and Mukesh, the team management benched Anrich Nortje and Lalit Yadav from the playing XI. Nortje hasn’t had a memorable season so far having picked six wickets from four matches at an average of 35.83 and an economy of 13.43 while Lalit Yadav scored three runs and gave away 15 runs in one over in the only game he played in the season. Meanwhile, DC also brought in West Indies wicketkeeper batter Shai Hope to further bolster their batting.
