India take on Pakistan in Match 5 of the Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 23. India are coming off a comprehensive victory against Bangladesh in the first game as they won it by six wickets. On the other hand, Pakistan were dealt a blow at the hands of New Zealand and lost the game by 60 runs.

This will be the first time both the teams will tussle in the 50-over format after their game in the World Cup 2023. They met again during the T20 World Cup 2024, where India clinched a thriller. The game is a high-stake one for both teams, where a win would propel India to the semifinals and the same will keep Pakistan alive in the tournament.

Toss Update

Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first and they have replaced injured Fakhar Zaman with Imam-ul-Haq.

Imam-ul-Haq joins the team in place of Fakhar Zaman

Fakhar Zaman got injured in the last game against New Zealand and had to walk out of the field. He did not open the innings and played only in the middle order as he struggled to take singles.

What did the captains' say at the toss?

Rohit Sharma (India):

Doesn't really matter, they won the toss so we'll bowl first. Looks similar to the last game, the surface is on the slower side. We have an experienced unit in batting so we know what we need to do if the pitches get slower. Need an overall performance from the team - with bat and ball. The last game wasn't an easy one for us, which is always nice. You want to be under pressure and test yourself.

Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan):

Will bat first, looks like a good surface. Want to put up a good target. Every match is important in ICC events, we will keep things normal. The boys are familiar with these conditions, we have done well here and we want to do our best today. We lost our last game, but it is past for us now. One change - Fakhar is out, Imam is in.
