The entire nation is in a frenzy after the Pran Pratishtha ceremony for Ram Mandir was successfully held in the holy city of Ayodhya on Monday, January 22. Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present at the event and performed the rituals to consecrate Lord Rama’s idol in their sanctum abode.

Several notable personalities of the country bore witness to the momentous occasion as the who’s who of cinema, sporting and business world graced the event with their presence. However, among the numerous personalities attending the sacred event, star India cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma remained absent.

Notably, the duo had got the invitation to attend the historic event but failed to mark their presence. According to reports, the Indian team assembled in Hyderabad for their first practice session on Sunday, January 21 ahead of the five-match Test series against England. Most of the players including Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli attended the practice session except the skipper Rohit Sharma who opted for a personal session in Mumbai.

The Indian captain joined the team earlier today (Monday, January 22) and hence couldn’t attend the consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir. On the other hand, Virat Kohli received a personal invitation to the religious event at his Mumbai residence along with Bollywood actor wife Anushka Sharma.

However, the Delhi-born cricketer also failed to attend the event due to some personal reasons. Notably, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) also revealed in a press release that the star batter has withdrawn from the first two Tests of the series against England in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.
