Women's U-19 World Cup: England finish as table-toppers in Group 2 as Super Six culminates

The final fixtures of the Super Six have finally concluded and the four semi-finalists are confirmed in the ongoing U-19 Women's T20 World Cup taking place in South Africa.

The final fixture of the Super Six round was between England and the West Indies, where a dominant England continued their super impressive unbeaten form, defeating the Windies by a huge margin of 95 runs. The win helped England finish as table-toppers of Group 2.

Captain, Grace Scrivens led the charge with a half-century, guiding her side to a total of 179/4 and Ellie Anderson's match-winning spell of 5/12 helped England restrict the Windies to 84/8. England will play their semi-final against rivals Australia on Friday, January 27.

Semi-finals fixtures finalised

England and New Zealand have been the two teams who are yet to be defeated. Both these teams look to have only one mission- to lay their respective hands on the coveted title. England's performance in the clash against the West Indies was yet another example. More importantly, they didn't just need to win but they had to win big to ensure a top finish and book a semi-final date with arch-rivals Australia, which they did in style.

In the other game of the day, Bangladesh emerged victorious by five wickets as they defeated the Theertha Satish-led UAE. Batting first UAE could only manage 69 as Rabeya Khan for Bangladesh bowled really well and bagged three wickets. In reply, Shorna Akhtar with her quickfire 38 off 19 balls helped Bangladesh to scale the target in just 9.1 overs.

Now towards the business end of the tournament, the four semi-finalists who will be locking horns for a place in the final are: From group 1 - India and Australia have secured the top-two spots, dismantling Bangladesh and South Africa, while in group 2, England's superior net run rate helped them leapfrog New Zealand and take the top spot.

On January 27, India will face New Zealand in the first semi-final at Senwes Park before England take on Australia in the second semi-final at the same venue.
