The inaugural season of the highly-anticipated Women's Premier League (WPL) turned out to be a resounding success last year. Now, WPL 2024 is all set to take the cricket fraternity on a joyous ride over the upcoming weeks.
The second season is set to commence on Friday, February 23, as defending champions Mumbai Indians take on last year's finalists Delhi Capitals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This encounter will begin at 7:30 PM (IST). Before this riveting encounter, from 6:30 PM (IST) onwards, fans will be treated to a star-studded opening ceremony that will set the tone for the tournament.
Last year, AP Dhillon, Kriti Sanon, and Kiara Advani enthralled the fans with their mesmerizing performances. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have left no stone unturned in making the WPL 2024 opening ceremony an unmissable affair as some of the biggest stars of Bollywood will be gracing the occasion with their presence.
The official social media handles of WPL have confirmed that the opening ceremony will see performances from popular Bollywood actors like Kartik Aaryan, Sidharth Malhotra, Tiger Shroff, Varun Dhawan, and Shahid Kapoor. WPL shared separate posts to announce the names of these stars who will set the stage ablaze on Friday. However, they kept the biggest surprise for the end as they confirmed that the legendary Shah Rukh Khan would be performing at the event.
