Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup after sustaining a back injury.
India's hopes of securing a second T20 World Cup title took a big hit after ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the forthcoming ICC tournament in Australia. The fast bowler was ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a stress fracture in his back. Bumrah shared a cryptic story via his Instagram account on Wednesday, taking a dig at his critics.
Jasprit Bumrah did not take part in India's Asia Cup campaign due to an injury concern and only made his return to cricket in the T20I series against Australia last month. But the pacer was ruled out of the first T20I against South Africa due to a minor back issue. Later it was revealed that the injury was much more serious than previously thought, ruling him out of the T20 World Cup.
Bumrah's injury sparked a meme fest on the internet, with several fans giving up on India's dream of an ICC trophy since 2013 after the pacer's injury. Many fans even went on to critique the Indian cricketer's commitment to the national side and labeled him just a franchise player. The bowling stalwart took to Instagram, taking a dig at his critics via a renowned quote by Winston Churchill.
“You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks,” read Bumrah's story.
Jasprit Bumrah was 'gutted' after missing out on the T20 WC due to his injury
Earlier the Indian pacer had shared his disappointment in missing out on the ICC mega event in Australia later this year. The Indian bowling has been under severe pressure since an early exit in the Asia Cup and Bumrah's injury has further compounded their woes.
"I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care, and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia," Bumrah had tweeted after he was ruled out of the T20 WC.
