During the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup, the batters faced an exacting journey to survive at the surfaces in the USA and the Caribbean. This struggle was evident for all participating teams, as even the most astute batters from every squad experienced significant difficulties and finding any sort of mojo during their stay in the middle. However, Bangladeshi batters had the most noticeable struggle in this aspect. This is supported by shambolic numbers, as they recorded the lowest collective batting average (15.89) among all the teams that advanced to the Super Eights.

Highlighting the issue, vice-captain and ace pacer, Taskin Ahmed, agreeing that every team's batting unit faced hurdles during their matches, particularly in the US. In a candid admission, Taskin remarked that he hadn't witnessed such a prolonged slump for the batters in his decade-long stint with Bangladesh and expressed hope for a swift turnaround.

“When you talk about the batting, if you look at the statistics, I think every [team's] batting department suffered in the USA this time. We got better [batting] wickets in the West Indies. I haven't seen such a long bad patch for the batters in my ten years playing for Bangladesh. I hope it goes away quickly,” Taskin told reporters at the Dhaka airport, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Responding further to some more pessimistic questions, the star cricketer, who claimed eight wickets in the tournament, candidly admitted that their batters with regard to T20Is, had never really achieved impressive statistics to boast about. He acknowledged their ongoing efforts to improve steadily. Taskin urged the reporters to look beyond the low points, stating that their frustration was entirely understandable and justified. He assured that the Bangladeshi team was committed to performing better in the future and emphasized that the support and well-wishes of their compatriots would be essential for boosting the team's morale.
“We never had great numbers in T20Is. We are improving slowly. We cannot just look at minus points; we are in the negative already. We are trying to get a 'plus'. Your frustration is expected. We will give you a good win. You have to keep faith in us. We will give it our best,” added the right-arm quick.

Shakib, Mahmadullah are great team men: Taskin

Alluding to the below-par performances of senior players like Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah, the seamer acknowledged that the lacklustre form did impact the team on the field, though not off it. He emphasized that it's normal for a team's on-field performance to be affected when key players fail to deliver justice to their stature.

“The seniors' off-form had an effect on the team, but not off the field. They are great team men. We stayed as a team for 47 days. Everything was fine off the field. It is quite normal that a team will have problems when important players are not in form. I am hopeful that we can recover from this, and play better soon,” shared Taskin.
