'Your frustration is expected' - Taskin Ahmed publicly admits Bangladesh's mistakes at T20 World Cup 2024
While Bangladesh excelled during the group-stage, the Super 8s proved to be their nadir, particularly for the batting lineup.
During the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup, the batters faced an exacting journey to survive at the surfaces in the USA and the Caribbean. This struggle was evident for all participating teams, as even the most astute batters from every squad experienced significant difficulties and finding any sort of mojo during their stay in the middle. However, Bangladeshi batters had the most noticeable struggle in this aspect. This is supported by shambolic numbers, as they recorded the lowest collective batting average (15.89) among all the teams that advanced to the Super Eights.
Highlighting the issue, vice-captain and ace pacer, Taskin Ahmed, agreeing that every team's batting unit faced hurdles during their matches, particularly in the US. In a candid admission, Taskin remarked that he hadn't witnessed such a prolonged slump for the batters in his decade-long stint with Bangladesh and expressed hope for a swift turnaround.

Alluding to the below-par performances of senior players like Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah, the seamer acknowledged that the lacklustre form did impact the team on the field, though not off it. He emphasized that it's normal for a team's on-field performance to be affected when key players fail to deliver justice to their stature.
“The seniors' off-form had an effect on the team, but not off the field. They are great team men. We stayed as a team for 47 days. Everything was fine off the field. It is quite normal that a team will have problems when important players are not in form. I am hopeful that we can recover from this, and play better soon,” shared Taskin.
