Yuzvendra Chahal completes 100 first-class wickets
The experienced Indian leg-spinner achieved the feat in his 38th first-class appearance.
Veteran Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bagged his 100th first-class wicket during the ongoing County Championship Division Two clash between Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, which is taking place at County Ground, Northampton.
After getting bowled out for 219 in the first innings, Chahal's five-for helped Northamptonshire dismiss Derbyshire for just 165. He completed 100 wickets in his first-class career when he bagged the wicket of Zak Chappell on Day 2. The 34-year-old, who is regarded as one of the finest spinners in modern-day white-ball cricket, got to the landmark in his 38th first-class encounter.
Chahal eventually finished with figures of 5/45 from the 16.3 overs he bowled. Apart from Chappell, the Haryana spinner picked up the wickets of Wayne Madsen, Aneurin Donald, Alex Thomson, and Jack Morley. Chahal also has 219 dismissals in List A cricket from 138 matches and 354 T20 wickets from 305 games.
After Chahal's heroics, Northamptonshire finished Day 2 at 178/5 in 46.2 overs, as rain prematurely ended the day's play. The home side have a lead of 232, with Rob Keogh (46) and Lewis McManus (10) at the crease.

Prithvi Shaw fails in both innings
While Chahal had an excellent outing with the ball in the first innings, fellow Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw failed to impress with the bat. In the first innings, he hit the first ball for a boundary before being dismissed on the second by right-arm speedster Chappell. Meanwhile, in the second innings, he could only score two runs off eight balls, losing his wicket to another right-arm pacer, Harry Moore.
Northamptonshire and Derbyshire are two teams placed at the bottom of the points table. Northamptonshire are placed at No. 7 with no wins from 11 encounters, while Derbyshire at stationed at No. 8 after emerging victorious in a solitary encounter from 11 games. Luke Procter & Co. are strongly placed in this clash and have a great chance to get off the mark.
