Liam Livingstone will though be in a different shade of blue after moving from MI Cape Town to the Pretoria Capitals, in the next season of SA20.

The 31-year-old all-rounder featured prominently for MI Cape Town last season, playing all 10 round-robin matches for the Newlands-based franchise. Livingstone scored 109 runs at an average of 12.11 at a strike-rate of 104.81 with a best of 26. He struck five boundaries and seven sixes in the competition. He also claimed three wickets with his leg spin.

It was later revealed that Livingstone had been struggling with a knee injury for the past 18 months that impacted his performances and that had left him "in a pretty crap place". Livingstone eventually left the subsequent Indian Premier League early to “get my knee sorted” ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the US and Caribbean.

It was only since then that the Blackburn Rovers football fan could start playing “pain-free” again due to taking anti-inflammatory injections. The positive results have been evident with Livingstone finding some good form of late for both Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred and Lancashire in England’s T20 Blast with scores of 55 and 43 respectively in his last two matches.

“Back to the @SA20_League looking forward to this @PretoriaCapsSA” Livingstone posted on his X (formerly Twitter account) after the announcement was revealed.

Liam Livingstone will join his fellow England teammate and Centurion fan favorite Will Jacks at the Capitals. The SA20 2025 will kick off on January 9 with a match between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and MI Cape Town. The final of the T20 league is set to be played on February 8, 2025, at Wanderers, Johannesburg.
