The Board of Contol for Cricket in India (BCCI) has laid extra focus on the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024, as multiple international regulars barring Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah, are set to play in the forthcoming tournament.

The tournament is divided into two legs, one to be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and the other in Anantapur. Bengaluru will be hosting Match 1 between India A and India B and will see players like Shubaman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, Khaleel Ahmed, Riyan Parag, KL Rahul, Tilak Verma competing against Abhimanyu Easwaran, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Sarfaraz Khan, Mukesh Kumar and Washington Sundar among others.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja, who was included in India B, has been withdrawn. The reason for the same is still unknown but the all-rounder will be available for selection for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

The match holds extreme importance as multiple India internationals will feature. As per reports, BCCI selectors will be picking their squad for the Bangladesh series based on the players’ performance in the Duleep Trophy. There will be extra pressure on someone like Rishabh Pant, who will be making a comeback to red-ball cricket after a significant amount of time and so will be on KL Rahul, who might miss the Bangladesh series if he does not perform as the likes of Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel have done well in the recent past.

Pitch Report

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru would offer enough assistance to the batters. However, spinners too would enjoy their time as the game progresses because the stadium recently hosted the Maharaja Trophy. So, it won't entirely be a fresh wicket. Batting first would be the ideal thing to do as the spinners would be very effective on Days 3 and 4 of the match.
