ODI World Cup 2023, Match 10: Australia vs South Africa Match Preview
Australia and South Africa will square off in the tenth match of the World Cup on October 12, Thursday.
Australia (AUS) and South Africa (SA) will cross swords in the tenth match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on October 12. Both sides have made contrasting starts in the tournament, with South Africa securing a win over Sri Lanka while Australia lost their match to hosts India.
Australia did not have the best start as they were bundled out for a below-par 199 in 49.3 overs after opting to bat first. The Kangaroos failed to defend their total as India chased down the target in 41.2 overs, thanks to KL Rahul's unbeaten 97 runs.
South Africa, on the other hand, posted a mammoth 428 runs against Sri Lanka after being invited to bat first. The score marked the highest-ever total in the history of the ODI World Cup. Temba Bavuma and Co. then restricted Sri Lanka to 326 in 44.5 overs.
AUS vs SA Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at the stadium in Lucknow has been largely bowler-friendly. The surface generally assists spinners and has helped pace bowlers on some occasions. The stadium which has a total of nine pitches (4 black soil pitches and 5 red soil pitches) has undergone several changes for the World Cup. In four ODIs played at this stadium, the teams batting first and second, came out victorious on two occasions each.

Australia
Australia are likely to come up with the same lineup that faced India in their first match of the tournament. The top-order batters should stay at the pitch for a very long time in order to post a reasonable total or chase a target. Moreover, all-rounder Cameron Green might be replaced by Marcus Stoinis in the upcoming encounter.
Probable XI: David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Alex Carey (wk), Cameron Green/Marcus Stoinis, Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood
South Africa
Temba Bavuma and Co. are highly motivated coming into the match against Australia, having defeated Sri Lanka in a thrilling encounter. Probabale XI: Temba Bavuma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi
