The first semi-final of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 will be played between Gujarat and Kerala at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both the sides have had significant campaigns so far.

When it comes to Gujarat, they emerged as emphatic victors over Saurashtra by an innings and 98 runs in the fourth quarter-final. The hosts ended on second position in their group by winning four out of the seven games played. If Gujarat win, they will qualify for the final for the first time in eight years.

As for Kerala, a victory in the semi-final would mean a maiden appearance in the summit clash. Despite winning one game fewer than their opponents, they ended on second place in Group C with a significantly better net run rate (+1.813) than that of Gujarat (+1.147) in Group B. Kerala got past Jammu & Kashmir through the barest of margins, ending up clinching the contest due to a one-run first innings lead.

With the two semi-finals and the final five-day matches instead of four, it will be interesting to witness how the game between the two unfolds. The most recent encounter between the two was in February 2022, where Kerala won by eight wickets.
