The second match of the T20 World Cup 2022 will see the United Arab Emirates (UAE) take on the Netherlands at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong on Sunday, October 16.

UAE after missing out on the Asia Cup 2022 will aim to make it to the all-important T20 World Cup Super 12 stage but their form in the recent T20Is is a matter of concern. The CP Rizwan-led side played some exceptional cricket in the T20 World Cup qualifiers but seem to have lost their mojo in the last few months. The team has enormous potential to do well and qualify for the next round but against the Netherlands, it’s not going to be an easy task.

After missing out on the Super 12s last year, the Dutch team will aim for nothing less than making a remarkable return to the bigger picture. The team hosted quite a few strong opponents in the build-up to the T20 World Cup and even though their performance hasn’t been remarkable, the Men in Orange played some positive cricket throughout.

If they can manage to hold their nerves in pressure situations, the Netherlands can go the distance.

Pitch Conditions

The bowlers will get some advantage in the early stages of the match at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong. The batters will slowly come into the picture and dominate the game after the new ball looses its sheen. Bowling first will be ideal in these conditions.

UAE:

UAE are unlikely to change their squad from the recent defeat at the hands of Bangladesh. They showed a lot of character and now with a bit of consistency, can emerge victorious.
