New Zealand (NZ) is poised to clash with Uganda (UGA) at the Brian Lara Stadium on June 15, 2024. With Afghanistan's recent seven-wicket victory over Papua New Guinea and New Zealand's consecutive defeats to Afghanistan and the West Indies, the path to the Super Eight is now closed for the Kane Williamson-led side, despite having another game remaining after their match against Uganda. They'd be eager to break the deadlock and secure their inaugural triumph of the campaign.

Uganda's historic narrow three-wicket win over PNG was flanked by two resounding defeats against Afghanistan and the West Indies, where the T20 World Cup debutants were shot out for 58 and 39, respectively. Despite the New Zealand game being inconsequential for them, they'd be aiming to enhance their batting performance and might opt to take the initiative to bat first if managing to win the toss, given their previous experience of chasing in all three matches.

The venue at Tarouba will host its third consecutive match in as many days, with expectations that the pitch will exhibit sluggish behavior favouring spinners over pacers. Batting, particularly during the second innings, may pose significant challenges due to the pronounced grip on the surface, requiring adept handling by the batters.
