1. If India win, they will become the first team to win the Champions Trophy thrice

India have laid hands on the Champions Trophy silverware on two occasions - 2002 and 2013. The 2025 edition presents India to win the tournament for a third time. Their victory against New Zealand on March 9 will mark them becoming the first side in world cricket to win the Champions Trophy on three separate occasions. Currently, Australia are on level terms with India; each of the sides having won the tournament twice.
The 2002 edition saw Sri Lanka and India share the trophy after the original matchday, as well as the reserve day was washed out just as the second innings had commenced on both days. On both occasions, the Sanath Jayasuriya-led Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. India could only play two and 8.4 overs in both the games, respectively, before rain intervened. An all-round display by Ravindra Jadeja (33* off 25 and 2/24 in four overs) led India to clinch the prize in a 20-overs-a-side rain-curtailed match.
