Dominant India, after retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, would look to continue the home-run against the depleted Australia. The action now moves to Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore where both the team lock horns for the third time in four-match Test series.

Speaking about the second Test, Australia won the crucial toss and opted to bat for the second time in the series. The openers took them to a decent start as they put together 50 partnership. However, Mohammed Shami did the damage by setting up David Warner to break the good going partnership. 

Soon after, Ravichandran Ashwin joined hands along with Shami to send the top order back to hut at 108/4. Gritty fifties from Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb along with handy contribution down the order from Pat Cummins helped the visitors with the fighting total of 263.

In response, Indian top order did not live up the expectations as they succumbed Lyon’s spin dominance and India were left reeling at 66/4 at once. The duo of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja rescued India with 50 run partnership, but Todd Murphy broke the good going partnership by trapping Jadeja in front. Soon After Matthew Kuhnermann joined the party by removing Virat Kohli on his debut and India again looked in trouble at 139/7.

Then came the duo in Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin, who together put a record 114 partnership for 9th wicket reducing the deficit to one run as India were bowled out for 262. In the second Innings, the duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin helped India bundle out Australia cheaply for 113.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja registered his best figures of 7/42 in a Test innings. In response, Cheteshwar Pujara remained unbeaten for 31 on his 100th Test to help India ease the chase by margin of six wickets to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
