India vs Bangladesh 1st T20I: Stats Preview of Players' Records and Approaching Milestones
India will play a three-match T20I series after drubbing Bangladesh 2-0 in the Tests.
After a record-extending 18th consecutive Test series win at home, India (IND) will now take on their opponents from that series, Bangladesh (BAN), in a T20I series at home.
India drubbed Bangladesh in both the Tests, played at Chennai and Kanpur. In Chennai, Hasan Mahmud had bowled well to reduce India to 144/6 before Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who is now retired from T20Is, put up 199 and Ashwin scored a hundred to put India in a commanding position. Bangladesh's batting crumpled against India and India took a first innings lead. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant made centuries in the second innings and India comfortably wrapped Bangladesh up in the fourth innings.
The second Test at Kanpur was marred by rain and the loss of almost two and a half days to the weather. Bangladesh had batted for only two sessions on day one before the weather intervened, and no play was possible on days two and three. Bangladesh went from 107/3 to 233 on the fourth morning. Trying to force a result, India came out all guns blazing and broke the record for the fastest team 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 before ending their innings at 285/9 in 34.4 overs. Bangladesh once again could not take the heat and India wrapped up their fourth innings target of 95 in a similar breakneck fashion.
Now the attention shifts to the shortest format. The first match of this three-match series will be held at Gwalior, which is hosting its first international match after 14 years, and at a brand new stadium this time.
