After losing the series 3-1 to India, England won the toss and opted to field first. Sanju Samson got India off to a flying start, launching a clean pull shot for six over mid-wicket. Abhishek Sharma kept the momentum going, smashing the second-fastest T20I century for India in just 37 balls.

After losing their captain, India were in a comfortable position at 145-3 after 10.2 overs. Shivam Dube (30 off 13) came in and played some exquisite shots alongside Abhishek, who smashed 135 runs off 54 balls. Their partnership propelled India to a commanding total of 247 runs. However, Brydon Carse’s brilliant spell, taking 3 wickets in his four overs, helped England restrict India’s batting line up, keeping them 20 runs short of their potential total.

With a massive total to chase, England's openers began their innings with an aggressive mindset, scoring 17 runs off the very first over. As the innings progressed, Philip Salt stood as the lone warrior, fighting valiantly at one end while wickets continued to tumble at the other. Salt played a remarkable knock of 55 runs off just 23 balls, but no other batter managed to score more than 10 runs.
