A blistering 31st Ton from Joe Root, followed by Valuable contributions from Zak Crawley and Ben Foakes saw England finishing with 302/7 on day 1 of the fourth Test between India and England despite Akash Deep's brilliant three-wicket debut.
Earlier in the game opting to bat first, the openers got off to a quick start for England before the debutant Akash Deep struck thrice to send the top three packing with Crawley alone scoring a well-paced 42. England went into deeper trouble at the stroke of lunch as Ashwin and Jadeja shared a wicket each of Bairstow and Stokes. In the third session, the game was even-steven with India picking two wickets in Foakes and Hartley courtesy of Siraj's brilliance while England managed to score 104 runs. Joe Root was sensational in the innings scoring his 31st Ton and 10th against India, he played with caution to make sure England finished the opening day of the 4th Test of the series at 302/7 in 90 overs. Akash Deep picked up three wickets while Siraj picked up two scalps. Root remained unbeaten on 106.
