India defeated the Black Caps by a margin of eight wickets in the second ODI to seal their seventh consecutive home series. The action now moves to Indore as New Zealand will meet India for the last time in the ODI series to be played at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

Speaking about how the second ODI panned out, Rohit & co won the toss and sent the Kiwis to bat first, and the New Zealand batters did not live up to expectations as they were reduced to 15/5 inside 11 overs due to the courtesy of dominant bowling performance from India. Handy contributions from Glenn Philips, Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner with scores reading 36, 22 and 27 helped New Zealand to go past the three-digit mark.

Though the lower middle-order batters had starts, they could not withstand the firepower of the Indian attack as New Zealand were bundled out for 108 inside 35 overs. For India, Mohammad Shami was pick of bowlers with the spell of 3/18 in six overs, while Pandya and Sundar shared two wickets each.

In response to the 108, Rohit and Gill put together a partnership of 72 for the first wicket as Rohit completed his 48th half-century in style. India lost two wickets of Rohit for 51 and Virat for 11 runs in the chase but the Gill’s unbeaten 40 made sure the chase was completed with ease as India defeated New Zealand by eight wickets to seal the series 2-0.
