India vs New Zealand 3rd T20I Stats Review: Shubman Gill's brilliance, Hardik Pandya's feat and more stats
India won the decider at Ahmedabad to clinch the T20I series 2-1.
A brilliant century from Shubman Gill and an all-round performance from captain Hardik Pandya helped India beat New Zealand by a margin of 168 runs in the third T20I. India sealed the series 2-1 at the world's largest stadium- the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 1.
Speaking of how the game panned out, having elected to bat first, India lost Ishan Kishan in just the second over as he was trapped in front to Michael Bracewell. Rahul Tripathi then went berserk against the New Zealand bowlers and scored a quick-fire 44 off 22 balls. However, the India's batting was all about Shubman Gill, who was the chief architect in the setting.
The bowlers were punished as Gill notched up his maiden T20I century. The 126* run-knock included 12 fours and seven maximums and the youngster was ably supported by Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav who got valuable cameos helping India post humungous total of 234/4 in 20 overs.
In response, New Zealand's top order batters did not live up to expectations, as they lost half the team for 21 runs inside five overs. The Indian bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals, and for the visitors- all-rounders Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Santner were the only ones to reach double-digit scores.
Hardik Pandya registered his best figures of 4/16 in his four-over spell to help India beat New Zealand by the biggest margin of 168 runs and seal the series 2-1.
