Rilee Rossouw’s maiden T20I century while Quinton de Kock’s second fifty in as many matches helped the South Africans in posting their highest total of 227/3 eventually winning the third and the final game of the series against India by 49 runs in Indore. Rossouw remained unbeaten on 100 off 48 with seven fours and eight maximums as the Proteas scored over 220 runs in consecutive encounters against the Men in Blue. India lost their final T20 international before the T20 World Cup but sealed the series by a 2-1 margin.

Speaking about how the dead rubber panned out, skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first. Struggling South African captain Temba Bavuma scored only three runs to end the disastrous series where he managed to amass only as many runs. Wicketkeeper-batter De Kock kept going as he registered back-to-back fifties before getting dismissed for 68 off 43.

Rossouw, who came into the match with two ducks behind him looked in terrific touch and brought up his maiden hundred in the format. David Miller smashed three sixes in five deliveries to take the Proteas' total to above 225. Harshal Patel leaked runs yet again as he went for 49 runs for zero wickets in his four-over spell.

Chasing 228, Rohit bagged a two-ball duck while Shreyas Iyer, who replaced Virat Kohli mustered only one run off four. Birthday Boy Rishabh Pant opened the innings but managed to score only 27 off 14 in a massive run-chase. Dinesh Karthik came in to bat at no. four and struck 46 off 21 which included four fours and as many sixes before falling prey to Keshav Maharaj.

Man-in-form Suryakumar Yadav scored only eight, a rare failure as the hosts never really looked like going in the run-chase. Pacers Deepak Chahar and Umesh Yadav scored 31 and 20* respectively lower down the order but the Proteas won the game comprehensively by 49 runs. For his scintillating ton, Rossouw grabbed the Player of the Match award while Suryakumar Yadav won the Player of the Series award.
