Kolkata Knight Riders subjected Sunrisers Hyderabad to another one-sided defeat in the final of IPL 2024. KKR lifted the trophy after a wait of over a decade and they did it in absolute ruthless fashion in the final.

SRH chose to bat first and were welcomed by Mitchell Starc (2 for 14) who was breathing fire all over and took out Abhishek Sharma in the first over. Vaibhav Arora(1 for 24) then sent Travis Head packing for a first-ball duck, and SRH slumped in the powerplay as Starc returned to take another. KKR's bowling this season has been a team effort, and Harshit Rana(2 for 24), Sunil Narine(1 for 16) and Varun Chakravarthy(1 for 9) proved it. Andre Russell(3 for 19), playing his first IPL final, then cleaned up the tail and SRH could only score 113 - the lowest team total in an IPL final. Sunil Narine fell early in the chase, but Venkatesh Iyer(52* off 26) kept the entertainment coming with four fours and three sixes as KKR chased the low total down in about half the overs.

Here are all the stats from the final, alongside stats from the season:

1 - SRH's total of 113 was the lowest in an IPL final. The previous record was with CSK who had managed just 125/9 in 2013. It is also SRH's joint second-lowest total in the IPL overall.

4 - Travis Head is now the fourth player to post two ducks in the playoffs stage of a single IPL season. Lasith Malinga in 2013, Shreevats Goswami in 2020 and Shakib al Hasan in 2021 preceded him.

2 - Travis Head finished this season with 567 runs at a strike rate of 191.55. That strike rate is the second highest by a player scoring 500 runs in a single season. The highest is by Andre Russell who in 2019 scored 510 runs at a strike rate of 204.81.

2 - Abhishek Sharma ended his season with 484 runs at a strike rate of 204.21. Amongst players, who have made their runs at more than 2 runs a ball in an IPL season, Abhishek's 484 runs are the second-highest. Russell's monster 2019 season still takes the first spot. Interestingly, the third spot is taken by Jake Fraser-McGurk who scored 330 runs in IPL 2024 at a strike rate of 234.04.

1 - Sunil Narine ended this season with a double of 488 runs and 17 wickets. Among all players who have scored a minimum of 400 runs in a single IPL season, Narine's 17 wickets are the joint-highest alongside Shane Watson in 2008 who finished with 472 runs and 17 wickets in the 2008 edition. And among all players who took 15 or more wickets in an IPL season, Narine's 488 runs are the most. The previous top spot was held by Watson's 2008 season.

2 - Sunil Narine became the second player to complete a double of 300 runs and 15 wickets in an IPL season twice. Jacques Kallis had previously achieved the feat in successive seasons in 2012 and 2013, while Narine had scored 375 runs to go along with taking 17 wickets in IPL 2018.

1 - KKR's 72/1 is now the highest powerplay total in an IPL final.

2 - While Suresh Raina has the most 50+ scores in IPL playoffs with 7, Venkatesh Iyer's fourth fifty in the playoffs puts him at level with Dwayne Smith, Michael Hussey and Shane Watson.

1 - Venkatesh Iyer's unbeaten 56 propelled him to the top spot among players with the most runs in IPL playoffs for KKR. Venkatesh now has 234 runs in the playoffs as a KKR player, while Shubman Gill who is leading Gujarat Titans right now is a distant second with 184.

2 - Pat Cummins finished this season with 18 wickets while captaining runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is now second on the list of captains with the most wickets in a single IPL season. Shane Warne's 19 wickets while leading Rajasthan Royals to the title in 2008.

1 - KKR chased the total down with 57 balls remaining. This is the highest number of balls remaining in a successful chase in the IPL playoffs. In second place are the 38 balls that KKR had remaining in the first qualifier of this season.

1 - While they had one game abandoned and another end in a no result with a toss, but without play, KKR lost just three matches in this edition which is the joint lowest alongside RR who lost the same amount in 2008.

6 - This is now the 6th instance of the team that topped the points table going on to win the tournament. The previous instances are Rajasthan Royals in 2008, Mumbai Indians in 2017,2019, and 2020 as well as Gujarat Titans in 2022.
