The 5th match of IPL 2024 will be held at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. The clash will be between two former champions Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI). GT finished runners-up last year after winning the tournament in their inaugural year 2022. MI haven't made an IPL final since their record 5th title win in 2020. 

Both teams teams went through some heavy changes in the lead-up to the season. Hardik Pandya who led Gujarat Titans to two finals in two years, will now captain Mumbai Indians. GT tried to fill the gap by signing players like Azmatullah Omarazai and Spencer Johnson while MI made waves with signings of Gerald Coetzee and Nuwan Thushara at the auction.

Hardik Pandya vs Rashid Khan: 

These two players have faced each other in six different innings where Hardik Pandya has scored 27 runs at an average of just 13.50 and worryingly for him, the strike rate of 72.97 inspires no confidence in this matchup to work in Hardik's favour.

X-Factors for GT vs MI:

Gujarat Titans:

Shubman Gill comes with a lot of runs behind him at this ground. If he can see off the Jasprit Bumrah threat at the start, it will allow him to play the long game and eventually score enough runs to take the game away from MI. 

Mumbai Indians:

Suryakumar Yadav will enter this season with a point to prove and his T20 prowess is there for everyone to see. Suryakumar Yadav's credentials in this format make him possibly the biggest threat that GT's bowlers will bowl to on Sunday.
