IPL 2024: Qualifier 2, Stats Review: Most sixes conceded in IPL and other stats from SRH vs RR
Sunrisers Hyderabad are through to their third IPL finnal
Sunrisers Hyderabad gave themselves an opportunity to avenge their loss in the first qualifier to KKR by beating Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier. It was only the second meeting between the two teams in the playoffs and SRH managed to settle a score from more than a decade ago.
After being put in, SRH struggled for control early in the innings, as Trent Boult (3 for 45) went about business as usual in the powerplay despite a fightback from Rahul Tripathi (37 off 15). But RR kept hitting back in the middle overs mainly with the help of Sandeep Sharma (2 for 25) and Avesh Khan (3 for 27). Heinrich Klaasen (50 off 34) staged a fightback that pushed SRH to 175, which at the time did not feel enough.
Despite some struggling from Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Yashasvi Jaiswal (42 off 21) went about hitting his shots in the powerplay, but once he was dismissed off Shahbaz Ahmed (3 for 23) in the eighth over, RR's batting simply imploded as Abhishek Sharma (2 for 24) joined Ahmed in deepening RR's scars. While there was some hope when Dhruv Jurel(56* off 35) counter-attacked, all the damage was done and RR could only manage 139 and went on to lose by 36 runs.
