A rain-hit encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium saw Punjab Kings emerge victorious against Royal Challengers Bengaluru by five wickets in the 34th match of the Indian Premier League 2025. The match was reduced to 14 overs per side due to rain, but the amount of drama was still ensured.

Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first on a damp surface. Batting first, RCB struggled to find momentum and crawled to 95/9 in 14 overs. Tim David was the lone bright spot, smashing a quickfire 50* off just 26 balls. Arshdeep Singh made early inroads by dismissing Phil Salt and Virat Kohli, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Marco Jansen kept things tight through the middle overs.

In response, Punjab Kings chased down the modest target in 12.1 overs, finishing at 98/5. Openers Priyansh Arya (16 off 11) and Prabhsimran Singh (13 off 9) gave a brisk start. Although Josh Hazlewood’s fiery spell (3/14) shook the top order, Nehal Wadhera remained composed, guiding the team home with an unbeaten 33 off 19 balls.

Tim David won the Player of the Match award for his outstanding knock.

"It didn't feel so easy. I had a chance to see what the pitch is doing so I could adapt. I am happy I can contribute, but whatever the coaching staff asks, I am happy to do. I am happy I got to face more balls today but I won't be asking any questions about my positions. We had to try and get some partnerships. Tonight was difficult. We had to manage risk a little bit. I feel happy with how I played but I'd feel better having a drink after a nice win. I think it's been tough because we've faced different conditions each time. Tonight it was under the covers. We haven't had a grasp and played well on our home ground, that's undeniable," David said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
