Pakistan vs Afghanistan, ODI World Cup 2023,Match 22, Stats Review: Noor Ahmad's bowling figures, Afghanistan's feat and other stats

Afghanistan restricted Pakistan to 282/7, with Noor Ahmad picking up three wickets and Naveen-ul-Haq picking up two. In the chase, solid batting from Ibrahim Zadran (87), Rahmat Shah (77), and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65) handed Afghanistan a victory over Pakistan by six wickets.  

Early in the game, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first in the 22nd match of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Afghanistan at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai, on Monday, October 23. Azmatullah Omarzai drew first blood for Afghanistan, dismissing Imam-ul-Haq for just 17 runs. Abdullah Shafique scored a fifty before being dismissed by Noor Ahmad. Noor Ahmad also dismissed Mohammad Rizwan for 8 runs. 

Babar Azam kept the scoreboard ticking for Pakistan, scoring 74 runs before being dismissed by Noor Ahmad. Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan put together a 73-run partnership for the sixth wicket. However, both batsmen were dismissed for 40 runs each. Pakistan eventually posted a total of 282 runs for 7 wickets. Noor Ahmad was the pick of the bowlers for Afghanistan, taking three wickets for 49 runs. 

In response to Pakistan's 282, Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz put on a solid opening partnership of 130 runs. Shaheen Afridi broke the partnership by dismissing Gurbaz for 65 runs, but Zadran went on to score a half-century (87 runs) before being dismissed by Hasan Ali. Rahmat Shah scored a brilliant 77 runs, and Hashmatullah Shahidi made a valuable contribution of 48 runs which helped Afghanistan beat Pakistan by 8 wickets with six balls remaining. Ibrahim Zadran was awarded the Player of the Match award for his 87-run knock

 2 - Afghan spinners bowled 38 overs against Pakistan, the joint-second most by a team in a World Cup innings, equaling their own record set against the same opponent in 2019 at Leeds.

 2 - Noor Ahmad has become the fourth youngest spinner to take a wicket in a World Cup match, at the age of 18 years and 293 days. He is also the second youngest Afghanistan spinner to achieve this feat, after Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who took a wicket against Australia in 2019 at the age of 18 years and 65 days.

 3 - Afghanistan scored 60 runs in the powerplay, which is the third-highest powerplay total for Afghanistan in the ODI World Cup. Their highest powerplay total is 79, which they scored against England in the ongoing World Cup.

 2 -  Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz put together a 130-run partnership, which is the second-highest partnership for any wicket for Afghanistan in the World Cup. Their highest partnership is 133 runs, scored by Ikram Alikhil and Rahmat Shah against West Indies at Leeds in 2019. 

 1 - Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have now scored four hundred-run partnerships in ODIs, which is the joint-most by Afghan pair, equaling the tally of Hashmatullah Shahidi and Rahmat Shah.
