Sir Vivian Richards Stadium T20 World Cup records & stats ahead of Match 44, Australia vs Bangladesh
Both teams will start their Super Eight campaigns at this venue in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 edition.
The mighty Australia (AUS) will lock horns with Bangladesh (BAN) in their first Super Eight fixture as they hope to advance even further in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Both teams are coming into the next stage on the back of wins.
Australia's last game against Scotland was particularly important to a third party, England. The English side needed the Men in Yellow to beat Scotland in order to progress to the Super 8s and their prayers were answered. Despite losing wickets early, George Munsey and Brandon McMullen but Australia pulled it back towards the end even with Richie Berrington hanging around.
Notably, Australia also ran into trouble very early in their chase, regular wickets at the other end prevented Travis Head from going all guns blazing as he crawled to a fifty but picked up the slack later. But Head's late outburst was not enough to firmly put Australia in the driver's seat. It was Marcus Stoinis who blazed away to put the game in Australia's lap with Tim David finishing the formalities.
Bangladesh are also coming off of a very charged game where they broke the record for the lowest total ever defended in T20 World Cups. Bangladesh's batting never got going as Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee, Rohit Paudel and Sandeep Lamichhane contributed equally with two wickets each to bowl out Bangladesh for just 106. Bangladesh decided to reply in kind, as Tanzim Hasan Sakib bowled all his four overs at the start of the innings to produce a spell where he bowled 21 dot balls and took four wickets to have Nepal five down by the 7th over.
Thereafter, Kushal Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee then put up a partnership of fifty but it got derailed as pacer Mustafizur Rahman claimed three wickets, which opened up the game for Bangladesh. Consequently, the Bangla Tigers were able to close the game in their favour by restricting Nepal to just 85. Interestingly, Australia are basking in an unbeaten run in the T20 World Cup 2024 edition and will want to carry on the winning momentum ahead.

The surface at this ground has been generally healthy and has been seeing some high totals. That is not likely to change at all. The pitch will provide something for everyone, mostly for the batters though. Another high total can be expected in the upcoming T20 World Cup fixture.

Australia vs Bangladesh Strategies and Match-ups:
Australia have enjoyed an unbeaten run and their main force here has been the batting. While their bowling has contributed in meaningful ways, Australia's batting has been found wanting if not for Marcus Stoinis in times of dire need. This looks like the only chink so far in Australia's armour that Bangladesh could reasonably exploit. Bangladesh themselves have also run into trouble while batting themselves, but their bowling has looked up to the task every single time. On a surface that is expected to have a lot for the batters, the Asian side's bowling might not be fully equipped to provide respite.

Bangladesh:
Rising pace star Tanzim Hasan Sakib is currently Bangladesh's highest wicket-taker in the tournament and was instrumental in setting up the Bangla Tiger's success with the ball in the marquee cricket carnival.
