India vs Pakistan matches have been a treat to watch not only for the thrilling games but also for the incredible innings we get to witness from some exceptional players, especially in the ODI format. This is the rivalry where the fans get to witness some memorable innings from players from both teams.

The ODI format has seen both the Pakistan and Indian players play some great knocks but the highest individual ODI score in the Indo-Pakistan rivalry still belongs to former prolific opening batter Saeed Anwar. The Karachi-born graceful left-hander scored a brilliant 194 off 146 deliveries during the Pepsi Independence Cup in 1997 which apart from the Indian team also featured Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

This incredible knock included 22 fours and five sixes during this knock and maintained a strike rate of 132.87. The game was played in Chennai and while most of the Pakistan batters were struggling Anwar took responsibility and took apart the Indian bowlers who failed to contain the southpaw. This innings was enough to take Pakistan to a huge total of 327 in the end and Anwar was the only player to make a big score while some batters either failed to convert their starts or got out cheaply.

The target proved too challenging for India, and despite strong efforts from Rahul Dravid and Vinod Kambli, India were ultimately bowled out for 292 runs. Pakistan secured a 45-run victory, aided by a five-wicket haul from Aaqib Javed. As for the Quadrangular Series, Pakistan advanced to the finals but lost to Sri Lanka. Anwar ended as Pakistan’s top run-scorer in the series.
