Stuart Law, the former Australian batsman and now turned coach has been named as the head coach of the West Indies cricket team with a contract whose details remain undisclosed at the moment. Law will be replacing Jimmy Adams, who stepped down from his position to take over as the director of the Cricket West Indies board.

In recent times, the WICB has been looking to change its name from the West Indies Cricket Board to Cricket West Indies. While the ordeal witnesses them go through an entire rebranding process, it would also seem as though the whole head coach and all that comes with it takes a bit of a backseat.

While Law would indeed go on to exclaim that he was indeed pleased about taking what he believed was an ‘exciting job’, the fact remains that West Indies cricket is in a turmoil at the moment. Of course, they are the undisputed World Champions when it comes to T20 cricket, but the manner in which the other formats are going at the moment, it would seem as though a lot of work certainly needs to be done. It would also seem as though Mr. Stuart Law well and truly has his work cut out, to say the least.

“I am excited at the opportunity to contribute to what I think is an interesting time for West Indies,” said Law. “I think this assignment has come at an important time of my career.”

Richard Pybus, the departing director of the WICB went ahead and lauded the development stating that it was indeed a good one for West Indies cricket. Jimmy Adams will take over the post now.

“He comes at an exciting and critical time in the development of the West Indies men’s team, with the emergence of some outstanding young talent, as seen in the most recent Test series against Pakistan.”
