The schedule for the inaugural edition of the Global T20 Canada was recently announced. The tournament will be staged from June 28 to July 15 and will have six participating teams. A couple of weeks ago, the event went under the clouds as there was no schedule and no contracts for the players. The flight details weren’t also intimidated to the respective teams.

However, the authorities will be relieved by how things have panned out. The five franchises already announced their teams a week ago. The Windies B team is also a participant and Cricket West Indies (CWI) has lately put forth their 14-man squad for the mega event, led by Anthony Bramble, an experienced first-class cricketer from Guyana.

The jubilated cricketers

The senior team is playing the Test series versus Sri Lanka and hence most of the big players can’t take part in the event. Nicholas Pooran, who has represented the national team in 3 T20 Internationals, has also been named in the team. He has the experience of playing in renowned T20 leagues around the globe.

“I want to thank CWI for this opportunity, although it’s not the senior team – it’s still an opportunity to represent region. Hope to use the tournament as good preparation for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) where i can lead from the front and stamp my authority with bat and have some consistent scores,” Pooran was quoted as saying by Insidesport while expressing his delight.

“It’s a pleasure to lead CWI B team in the Global T20 tournament in Canada. I would like to thank the selectors for giving me such an opportunity to play in this tournament. For all player selected it’s a great opportunity to grab with both hands and make a mark. So I hope we can give good account as team, in a tournament full of big name players,” Bramble mentioned.
