7 Changed Faces- Cricketers then and now: Over the past few years cricket has grown in terms of setting new records, making new legends, new legends in making and an all new level of success, of glamour, of attitude and lifestyle. Here are the few then and now faces that over time have proved their worth and made a place for themselves in the pages of history and our hearts. 1. Sachin Tendulkar: (Source) Now the God of this game was once a 16-year-old nervous and shy teenager who ducked in his first game. The sand in the hour-glass of his career with time became golden grains. The hard hitter has now become the responsible strike rotator hanging in but has not lost the old charm as he still wins the game with long and powerfully sixes. 3. AB De Villiers: (Source) The South African One Day International captain started his career as an opening batsman but was later dropped down in the order the quite but determined AB was always compared to the legend Jhonty Rhodes, he has been an incredible fielder same as the legend. Though today he is a legend in making his long journey that started way back in 2004 has now brought him to a place of fame and respect. From the quite AB to a glamorous face in World Cricket. 4. Virat Kohli: (Source) We all remember the innocent boy with a school boy’s haircut lifting up the U-19 world with a smile of being the proud captain back in 2008. Since then this boy has made a stairway to heaven in his journey of becoming a man. The school-boy hairstyle changed to the most glamorous and trending face in India. From his rash behaviour in the early days to the sensible limited overs vice-captain, the test skipper and the most reliable member of the his team Kohli has grown to be a man from a boy who had dreams shining bright in his eyes. 5. Shane Warne: (Source) The most successful spinner of the Australian team and the legend in the world of cricket with more than thousand wickets in international cricket and a fair hand with the bat. Though, this is not how it all started, he became a part of the Australian team as a replacement for a regular spinner due to his poor form. His first test against India was a failure as he managed to take only one wicket in the entire series, moving to the next series with the same form against Sri Lanka, he came back attacking in the second innings with 3/11 and then there was no stopping him. With all the controversies and news he continued and ended up being the legend he is today. Even after his retirement he was a league winning captain of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League and a coach to them for the years that followed. The legend, second in the list after Murlidharan in the list of most wickets in international cricket was a boy with controversies, a historic tale after a disappointing start. 6. Shami Ahmed: (Source) A simple man with a dream from a small town in Uttar Pradesh, India has made it big in the world of cricket coming from a small town and humble background of a mechanic father who believed in his son’s talent Shami is now walking hand in hand with the modern life and technicalities. His career took flight when he played his first test match for the Indian team against the Carribeans four wickets in the first match and five in the second. With all the success and talent he is now a known name a trusted face of the team with more confidence, more style and added knowledge, but in all these years of ups and downs, glamour and wins he still remains a small town simple boy with dreams in his eyes. 7. Mohammad Irfan: (Source) The tallest bowler in the entire world with a height of 7 foot 1 inch hailing from a small village of Pakistan is one of the best seamer the country has produced. Though in the beginning he did not know to materialize his height. Irfan was born in a poor family and dropped out of school to work in a PVC factory, to earn living for his family, too scared to leave the job and concentrate on cricket. But soon he started playing for his village club wearing salwar kameez and school shoes, it took five years for Pakistan Board to recognize his worth now he is one of the main stream bowlers for his team.
