Cricketers wish Harbhajan Singh as he turns 37
On the occasion of his birthday, social media was filled with lovely wishes towards the off-spinner who adds one more year to his tally.
Popularly known as the Turbanator, India’s most successful off-spinner Harbhajan Singh turned 37 today. Regarded as one of the greatest spinners to have ever represented India, the Punjab lad has enjoyed a splendid career with more than 700 international wickets to his name.
He made his debut at an early age of 17 against the team that he went on to become the arch nemesis of, Australia. In his 19 years long international career, Harbhajan has produced many awe-inspiring performances. When you speak about the offie, the first thing that comes to your mind is the 2001 Test series against Australia at home. He was the Man of the Series for having picked 32 wickets which also included the first ever hat-trick by an Indian bowler in Tests.
While he had his share of ups and downs, ranging from being India’s frontline spinner to be marred in controversies like the monkey gate and slap gate, there’s no doubt that Harbhajan has also been an entertaining character on the field.
Incidentally, he also has 2 Test centuries against the same opponents which is the New Zealand. Other than being part of two of India’s World Cup victories, Bhajji has also enjoyed imminent success with the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He’s one of the rare cricketers to have played for the same franchise since it’s inception.
On the occasion of his birthday, social media was filled with lovely wishes towards the off-spinner who adds one more year to his tally. The likes of Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and the other current Indian team members took to Twitter to wish him. His spin twin Anil Kumble who has been in the news for quite some time now also wished Harbhajan.
Of course, birthday wishes are meant to be empty on Twitter without Virender Sehwag who also shared an interesting fact about Bhajji. Even the great master blaster Sachin Tendulkar had words for his little brother.
