Cricketing Trends on Social Media today
Here is how the cricketers spent their day on Twitter and Instagram today.
The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. Most of the talks were regarding the first semi-final of the 2019 World Cup between India and New Zealand at the Old Trafford in Manchester. There was a forecast of a downpour and the game was halted after 46.1 overs of play. The Black Caps could only manage 211 for the loss of five wickets and didn’t have the best of times in the middle by any means.
Kane Williamson got out after getting 67 while at the same score Ross Taylor stayed unbeaten before rain interrupted. Ramiz Raza was not happy with how the Kiwis approached after winning the toss and electing to bat first on a rather sluggish pitch. He feels that on big days, New Zealand is flat as a ‘sheet of paper’. Mark Waugh that the deck is on the slower side and a target of 240 plus would keep the Black Caps in the game.
Mohammad Kaif isn’t a worried lot as he feels that with a reserve day in the store, a full match should take place. In the meantime, there’s a Twitter war going on between Sanjay Manjrekar and Michael Vaughan. The latter has been taking sly digs at Manjrekar for his ‘bits and pieces’ comments for all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Subsequently, Manjrekar, also a former Indian cricketer, decided to block Vaughan on Twitter.
VVS Laxman congratulated Rahul Dravid after he became the head coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was delighted with Williamson’s style of holding the bat and playing the ball very late.
