The year 2021 was full of T20 cricket. With a plethora of games, the fans witnessed IPL, World T20, and the Hundred. Adding on, we also got to see the rise of the Australian national team as the World Champions.
The T20 World Cup received a negative reception, because of the condition of the pitches. After IPL was concluded, the matches were playd on the same grounds. Hence, toss played a major role in deciding the outcome of the match.
But, teams like Pakistan and Australia impressed everyone as they were dominant. These teams did play a considerable amount of T20 matches as well. As a result of which they did well during the T20 World cup. So, let us have a look at the best performers, as per CT fans in the shortest format of the game-

1. Jos Buttler: England
Jos Buttler has been one of the most important batsmen in the English batting lineup. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman is well known for his ability to hit the ball cleanly. This year, Jos has scored 589 runs in 14 innings. His average of 65.44 has been stellar and has a century to his name against Sri Lanka.
2. Martin Guptill: New Zealand
Martin Guptill is one of the most destructive batsmen in the shortest format of the game. He rarely eats up balls at the front and tries to provide excellent starts to his team. With a batting average of 37.66, he has shown that he can be consistent with the bat. Adding on, he is an excellent fielder as well.
3. Mitchell Marsh: Australia
The year 2021 will go down as the year of redemption for Mitchell Marsh. He came back into the Australian side and was instrumental in the journey of the World champions. In 14 games, he scored 549 runs at an average of 45.49. Apart from that, he can bowl some useful overs during the middle overs as well.
4. Aiden Markram: South Africa
This year, South Africa was able to put up a commendable effort during the T20 World Cup. And in the middle order, Aiden Markram was spot on with the bat and ball. Markram scored 233 runs at an average of 38.83. Apart from that, he bowled some useful overs in the powerplay and the middle order as well. His presence brings more options for the captain in the shortest format of the game.
5. Liam Livingstone: England
The best part about the English limited-overs lineup is their depth. And to strengthen this lineup, we have Liam Livingstone at number 5. The all-rounder has been in terrific touch with the bat. In four games, he has been battling with an average of 39.75. Adding on, he has been bowling his full quota of 4 overs on most occasions.
6. Kieron Pollard: West Indies
Kieron Pollard has been one of the greats in this format. This year, he has been the only consistent player from the Windies squad. In five games, he has scored 131 runs at an average of 43.66. Pollard is also well known for his athleticism on the field which makes him a valuable asset for this team.
7. Wanindu Hasaranga: Sri Lanka
There is no doubt that Wanindu Hasaranga is the best T20 bowler in the world. In 20 games, he has picked 32 wickets. Adding on, he managed to trouble the Indian batsmen during their visit to Sri Lanka. Hasaranga has been Sri Lanka’s best player in 2021.
8. Tabraiz Shamsi: South Africa
To complement Hasaranga, we have Tabraiz Shamsi. The spinner has been in stellar form this year. With 36 wickets to his name in 22 games, he has been South Africa’s most valuable player with the ball. He can hold on to one end of the wicket so that other players can pick wickets as well.
9. Adam Zampa: Australia
This year, Adam Zampa was the unsung hero for the Australians. In 21 T20Is, he managed to pick 26 wickets at an average of 21.03. During the T20 World Cup, he picked wickets at regular intervals and was a contender for the player of the series during the T20 World Cup.
10. Trent Boult: New Zealand
Trent Boult has been an exceptional bowler for the Kiwis over the years. During the World T20 game against India, he was in full flow as he destroyed the Indian lineup. Talking about his yearly performance, he picked 23 wickets in 15 games. His fielding skills are a bonus for any team he plays for and therefore, he comes in at this position on this side.
11. Josh Hazlewood: Australia
In this list, Josh Hazlewood is the most improved player. He has been the backbone of the Test bowling lineup, but this time, he managed to improve his skills in white-ball cricket as well. In 15 innings, Josh managed to pick 23 wickets at an average of 16.23. Apart from that, he is not the worst tail-ender by any means.
