Crowd chant 'CSK, CSK' as they spot Deepak Chahar at venue during Ranji Trophy finals
Chahar is undergoing treatment at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
The ongoing Ranji Trophy finals between Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru saw Chennai Super Kings and India pacer Deepak Chahar making a surprise visit during the fourth day of the match on Saturday, June 25. Chahar, who is recovering from his injury at the NCA, was seen walking on the sidelines of the ground.
Chahar suffered an injury during the West Indies series in February and was sent to the NCA for treatment. While he was set to return in the IPL 2022 for the second half, he suffered another injury and was ruled out of the entire tournament. The injury kept him out of the squads of South Africa and Ireland as the pacer continues to undergo treatment.
When Chahar made his entry in the stadium during the Ranji finals, the Bengaluru crowd started chanting ‘CSK, CSK’ and burst into applause for the CSK star. Hearing the crowd cheer and chant, Chahar immediately had a big smile on his face and waved to the fans. Here’s the video:
One of India’s star bowlers in white-ball cricket, the fast bowler last played for the team back in February. As Chahar remains to be unavailable, the BCCI called up pacers Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik for the first time for the just-finished T20I series against South Africa. The duo did not receive their cap then but are expected to be seen in the blues for the upcoming Ireland series.
Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh put up a tough competition in the Ranji finals
Speaking of the Ranji finals, Mumbai players are looking to get their hands on a record 42nd title, whereas Madhya Pradesh players are eyeing their maiden title. Sarfaraz Khan’s magnificent ton helped the Prithvi Shaw-led Mumbai to put up 374 runs in the first innings before being dished out by the opposition bowlers.
In response, Madhya Pradesh got off to a terrific start as hundreds from top-order batters Yash Dubey and Shubham Sharma followed by a glorious and critical ton from Rajat Patidar helped MP take over the charge of the game. The three centurions helped MP score over 500 runs as the lower-order batters continue to add runs on the fourth day of the final game.
