CSA confident of finding new owners for the Stellenbosch franchise
The CSA said that they are currently reviewing the list of bidders from which the franchises were shortlisted.
Cricket South Africa are in desperate need of a new owner for their Stellenbosch franchise in the forthcoming Global T20 League. This will e the inaugural edition of the tournament and is expected to be a grand opening. Brimstone, the investment company that was announced as the owners of the franchise at the launch in London, has decided to take their step back. The news came in on Friday and has left the CSA with a matter to be concerned about.

The CSA said that they are currently reviewing the list of bidders from which the franchises were shortlisted. The news bids that have come in after the pulling out of Brimstone, are also being reviewed. “currently evaluating other interested parties from the initial shortlist of bidders as well as new parties who have expressed interest” was A CSA statement.
However, the CSA have decided to take the responsibility of setting up the franchise till a new franchise gets finalised. Speaking about the issue, CSA CEO Haroon Lorgat said in a statement that he is quite sure the Stellenbosch team will be ready to be a part of the tournament which kicks off in November.
“We are confident that the Stellenbosch franchise team will be ready for participation in the T20 Global League, which kicks off in November 2017,” said Haroon Lorgat.
“We are working full steam to be ready for any new owner to takeover and run the team without any delay.” added the CEO.
“Looking ahead, the T20 Global League is progressing according to plan, with successful workshops held in Dubai with all of the Franchise Team Owners and then back at home with all our Members,” concluded Lorat.
26th and 27th of August will see the player draft being held. Over 400 players from 10 countries have shown their will to participate in the T20 tournament.
