The 13th edition of Indian Premier League is set to commence on 19th September and preparation of teams have been in full swing. Staging IPL 2020 in UAE is turning out to be a blessing in disguise for some unheard talents of India. As of now, CSK, KKR and DC have proposed to carry their set of ‘exclusive’ net bowlers to the gulf country.

The teams are working out on the roster of net bowlers which will comprise of maximum First-class U19 and U23 state level cricketers. During the net sessions, these newbies will get to bowl ace batsmen like Dhoni, Raina and Pant. As per year-long conventions, teams use to avail local net bowlers for practice session but this will not be the case this year.

While BCCI has stated the squad strength to 24, the contingent volume will differ team to team but it can be safely said that none of the teams might lookout for local net bowlers this time.

KKR thinking to have 10 net bowlers along with them to UAE.

“If all goes well, we are planning to take around 10 bowlers exclusively to UAE for the practice sessions. They will be accompanying the team and will remain till the tournament starts,” CSK CEO Kashi Vishwanathan said as quoted by The Times of India.

KKR is also thinking to have 10 net bowlers along with them to UAE. “It will be a blend of players of who have played Ranji Trophy while some of have played U-23 and U-19 national level tournaments,” a KKR camp official said.  DC is also looking forward to finalizing 6 net bowlers with them onboard. “They will be staying with the squad and will travel with the team for the net sessions,” a franchise source revealed.

“Someone like former India U19 Aditya Thackeray could gain a lot if RCB decides to take him for net sessions where he can bowl to a Virat Kohli. Aditya is a part of RCB developmental squad,” a senior talent scout of RCB stated.

“On slow Dubai tracks, it will be important that teams stack up their line-up with more spinners, especially for humid conditions. You will see a lot of left-arm spinners and wrist spinners who have played a decent level cricket being included apart from the pacers,” the scout added.
