The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League was getting everyone in Indian excited. There were quite a few reasons why this season of the IPL would have been tremendous. However, more than anything, the fans were excited about the comeback of MS Dhoni. The former Indian captain has stayed away from cricket for more than some time now. His comeback would have surely spread some joy in the heart of the Indian fans.

Dhoni took an indefinite break from international cricket after the World Cup 2019. His last appearance for the Indian side was in the semi-final, which the team lost to New Zealand. Since then, Dhoni hasn’t made himself available for any international game, a step which made him lose out on the yearly contract by BCCI.

But it was expected that MSD will wear the yellow jersey and go out to play for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL opener on March 29. With IPL now been delayed until April 15, the wait to watch him play has gotten a bit longer.

Dhoni can be seen playing football with teammates and support staff

But, cricket is not the only sport in which the wicket-keeper batsman indulges. Over the years it has been established that Dhoni loves to play football. He, in fact, was a passionate football player first before switching to cricket. He is also the co-owner of the ISL team Chennaiyin FC.

On Wednesday, Chennai Super Kings’ official Twitter handle posted a video of the players playing football. In the video, MS Dhoni can be seen playing football with all the teammates and support staff of CSK. The caption on the video was,” With every major sporting event getting postponed, here’s a super crossover, #Thala Dhoni footballing with his mates at #AnbuDen. #WhistlePodu”. In the past, the 38-year-old has been seen playing football in the net sessions for the Indian team.

The current state of the IPL 2020 is in a hanging place. Due to the outbreak of the pandemic COVID-19, there are chances that the 13th edition of the cash-rich league will be called off. For now, the delay is until April 15, but if the situations don’t get better BCCI might be forced to cancel the tournament.
