If there is any ODI tournament that enjoys as much craze as the ICC World Cup does, it is the elite Champions Trophy. Into its eighth edition now, the tournament began way back in 1998 and was won by South Africa under the captaincy of Hansie Cronje. India enters the tournament as defending champions, and also one of the favourites to lift the cup. The tournament is being played from 1 to 18 June in England and Wales. India’s campaign begins against Pakistan on June 4.

This edition of the tournament is offering all the latest technologies to the game so that the fans can make most out of the entertainment quotient. Starting from drone pitch analysing technology to LED stumps and the Intel graphic measurements, International Cricket Council (ICC) has brought all kind of stuff to the most coveted tournament involving the top 8 teams which started at Kennington Oval, London. In the opening game, the hosts got the better of Bangladesh.

In one of those technologies, the ICC have also introduced a very exciting and engaging technology – the prediction meter that analyses the match conditions based on the players performances and the pitch reports, after which it predicts the winning percentage of each team and also closely predicts the final score of a team batting first in the game. This is a tactful move by the organisers to keep the fans engaged in the match.

How it works

Analysing the career records of players, venue and host country data it takes the current match situation and simulates the remainder of the match, producing possibilities of victory of each team according to the circumstances of the game.

This all new exciting feature is going to make all the games much more interesting. Imagine the first team scoring the same as the technology predicted?! The technology introduced this time promises an unforgettable tournament.
