CT 2017: India is not our only opponent in the tournament, says Sarfraz Ahmed
"The tournament is being played in Ramazan and it's a good opportunity for us to give the nation an Eid gift by winning the tournament," he quoted.
Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed is eager to get on the drawing board for the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy. The Pakistani team has never won the tournament before and hence the skipper feels this could be their turn to lift the silverware. At the recent media interaction, Sarfraz spoke briefly about the plans of his team in the mega tournament.
Team Pakistan will start their campaign against arch-rivals India on June 4 at Birmingham. The team made an early arrival in England and were seen practicing hard at Birmingham. Talking about the high-intensity game, Sarfraz Ahmed noted that the team will be confident playing against India. They have had success against India in the tournament before. The kind of expectations that the team is carrying only adds up to the spirit of the players.
He further stressed on the fact that India is not the only opponent for them in the tournament. The team is focused on doing well in every game that they play in the mega event. Sarfraz remarked that they have nothing to lose with the tag of number 8th team in the rankings.
“We have a good record in this tournament against India, everyone back home also wants us to beat India and I am looking forward to it. But, India isn’t our only opponent in the tournament, every game is equally important and we are looking forward to each match,” quoted Sarfraz Ahmed as per the quotes in Geo.tv.
An Eid gift to the fans
“We are ranked 8th, so we have nothing to lose here, but I’m very hopeful and the team will give a good fight in every match. The tournament is being played in Ramazan and it’s a good opportunity for us to give the nation an Eid gift by winning the tournament. We haven’t won this tournament yet, this can be the first time,” he added further.
