Team India have started their preparations for the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy. The defending champions would want to stamp their authority on the tournament yet again in the same way like they did back in 2013. Needless to say, the players were seen hitting the hard straps in the net sessions during the recent team training in London. However, one key player – Yuvraj Singh – was found missing from the session.
Coming into a big tournament such as this, Yuvraj Singh is expected to be a key member of the team. Over the years, the veteran southpaw has ideally held the fort for the team India in the middle overs with the bat. When it comes to the ICC global events, the levels of performances grow manifold for the 35-year old player. Hence, his absence from the practice session at the Lord’s on Friday proved to be a concern for the onlookers.
The two-hour-long session saw all the members of the team sweat it out at the nets. Yuvraj was nowhere to be seen and hence the questions started to arise about his condition and fitness. In the recently concluded IPL, Yuvraj had missed a few matches because of injuries. He was not one of the most consistent faces in the playing eleven for the Sunrisers Hyderabad lineup.
The reason
Yuvraj Singh, as per the reports in Mumbai Mirror, reportedly had to miss the key practice session due to fever. The team management, however, expects him to recover soon and be back to the playing field in a day. Meanwhile, the team management is pleased with the way things are shaping up for the other players in the team.
