India won five of these six fixtures by margins of 29 and more runs. Sachin Tendulkar has been by far the best performer in the World Cup matches between India and Pakistan having scored a grand total of 313 runs in five appearances. Sachin scored 30+ in all those five innings and even hit three fifties where he was awarded the Man of the Match. Sachin’s impact in those five games can be realized with the contribution he made
His tally of 313 runs is accounted for 26.75 per cent of total runs aggregated by the Indian batsmen in those five matches. The Pakistan side overcame the defeats to India in 1992 and 1999 to make it to the final. The two sides faced off in the 1996 Quarter-Final but India failed to get over the line in the semi-final. Indians brought an end to their 28-year World Cup dream in 2011 having beaten the arch-rivals in the semis. Javed Miandad jumping around in the 1992 and the battle between Aamer Sohail and Venkatesh Prasad in 1996 will be among the incidents that the fans of two teams will always cherish.
