ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 Most Runs

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is just a few days away as India prepares itself to host the cricketing extravaganza for the fourth time in its history. The mega event will get underway on October 05 with New Zealand and England taking on each other in the opening encounter.

The World Cup brings out the best from every player as the stakes are high in every game and one failure could prove to be too costly for any side. Notably, in the 12 editions of the tournament so far, numerous great batters from several generations have graced the field with their marvellous performances.

As fans all around the world wait with bated breath for the ODI World Cup 2023 to get underway, let’s take a look at the top five highest run scorers in the history of the ODI World Cup.

The list features some of the greatest batters to have ever played the tournament namely Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara, Brian Lara and AB De Villiers. Unsurprisingly Tendulkar takes the top spot with 2278 runs to his name from 44 innings at an average of 56.95 with six hundreds and 15 fifties.

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting sits on second spot with 1743 runs from 42 innings while Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara is third on the list with 1532 runs from 35 innings. Meanwhile, West Indies legend Brian Lara takes fourth spot with 1225 runs and Mr 360 AB De Villiers takes the fifth spot with 1207 runs from 22 innings.
