Dale Steyn clears air on 'other leagues more rewarding than IPL' comment
Dale Steyn cleared his side by adding that IPL has been a great part of his career.
Ace pacer Dale Steyn is grabbing too much limelight ever since he commented that he finds PSL and other leagues more rewarding than the Indian Premier League. IPL is the most celebrated T20 league around the world, and one gets to witness fierce competition while being a part of the franchise. However, Steyn, who is currently plying his trade for Quetta Gladiators in PSL, felt that other leagues besides IPL are more rewarding, and the Indian T20 league is more about money and glamour.
Steyn decided to skip IPL 2021 and was part of it in the earlier seasons. However, his form seemed to dip in the last few seasons, and he didn’t remain franchise’s first choice for the leading the pace attack. However, ever since he gave his comments, he had to bear a lot of heat from fans and people around the world. In the latest turn of events, he has come up with a tweet that stated that IPL has been a great part of his career, and his words didn’t intend to disrespect or insult anyone.
“IPL has been nothing short of amazing in my career, as well as other players too. My words were never intended to be degrading, insulting, or comparing of any leagues. Social media and words out of context can often do that. My apologies if this has upset anyone. Much love,” he tweeted.

Fans were quick enough to say that he is hardly able to find a place in playing XI of the team in IPL in recent years, and that is why he passed a comment like this. He stated clearly that one gets lost in money and other things, and cricket is forgotten. On the other hand, in leagues like PSL, the main focus is always around cricket.
“I wanted some time off. I found that playing in these other leagues was slightly more rewarding as a player. I think when you go to IPL, there are such big squads and so many big names and so much emphasis on maybe the amount of money players earn and everything like that, so sometimes, somewhere down the line, cricket gets forgotten,” Steyn had told to Cricket Pakistan.
