Dale Steyn’s spitting-cobra to pin Cheteshwar Pujara
Steyn finished with a spell of 7-0-34-1 for Hampshire.
Dale Steyn is 34 years old, which is considered a significantly older age for a genuine fast bowler. The body doesn’t respond as much as it used to be during the younger days. Hence, keeping to the fitness levels becomes a tumultuous task. Dale Steyn has been trying hard to keep his body in shape and that is also necessary for him to spit venom on the cricket pitch.
Steyn may not be a spring chicken in the second-half of his career, but he hasn’t dropped the gun just yet. The same was also seen in Hampshire’s semi-final match versus Yorkshire in England’s domestic One Day Cup at Southampton. In the fifth over, he pulled out a fast and furious short-pitched delivery, which undid Cheteshwar Pujara, who is touted to possess the soundest of techniques.
Steyn’s absolute peach
Steyn strived an extra bit and dug the ball on the pitch with all his might as if his life depended on it. The pitch responded and the ball got big on the Indian batsman. He was caught on the crease in an attempt to play down the vicious delivery. The middle-order batsman, tentatively, fended at the ball. The ball took the upper part of the bat and whisked towards the slips.
Jimmy Adams is an experienced campaigner and is also safe as houses as a fielder. He wasn’t going to let go of the opportunity. He was standing at second slip and crouched on to his left to grasp the ball, clean as a whistle. Meanwhile, Pujara perished for a four-ball duck, leaving Yorkshire at 15/2 after 4.4 overs. Pujara’s team eventually was shot out for 241 in their mission to chase down 349 runs.
Steyn recently gained his spot in the national Test team for their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka which gets underway on the second week of July. The first Test will be played in Galle followed by the one in Colombo. The speedster will want to make an impact and help his team come out trumps.
