Dan Christian lands himself in trouble for wearing wrong jersey
Daniel Christian has been an integral part of the Pune squad and has contributed immensely in their campaign to take his team level in points with KKR.
The Rising Pune Supergiant stole the show at the most electrifying stadium in the country, The Eden Gardens Kolkata, as they edged past the home team Kolkata Knight Riders in a thrilling encounter on Wednesday. Brilliance with the willow in hand from Rahul Tripathi was the center of attraction in the Supergiant inning as the 26-year-old registered a swashbuckling 93 of just 52 balls.
Though Tripathi was almost a one-man show for the Supergiants, the win would not have been possible without Australian all-rounder Dan Christian. The veteran all-rounder made his experience count when his team needed the most and showed nerves of steel to seal the match in his team’s favor with a six.
The win was definitely a moment to cherish for Christian, but the big guy also landed himself into controversy on the same night for a completely different reason. Dan Christian stepped onto the field to bat wearing fellow teammate Ben Stokes’ number 55 jersey instead of his own which has the number 54 on its back. However, Christian had his own jersey on himself during the RPS bowling innings but much to everyone surprise that was not the case when he came out to bat.
The Australian did not waste much time after his team’s seventh win of the season and took to social media platform Twitter to admit his mistake on the eve of his 34th birthday. He also lauded the in form Rahul Tripathi and his flamboyant knock in his tweet besides stating the fact that he wore the wrong jersey.
Daniel Christian has been an integral part of the Pune squad and has contributed immensely in their campaign to take his team level in points with KKR. The fans will have their fingers crossed and hope the birthday boy does not miss any matches due to suspension which might come as a subtle blow to their qualification hopes.
