'Dande pe daal'- Yuzvendra Chahal follows Rishabh Pant's instructions to take England's last wicket
Yuzvendra Chahal has picked up seven wickets in England ODIs.
Wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal once again made the ball do the talking as he finished with a three-wicket haul in the series-deciding third ODI against England at Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday, July 17. However, what really stood out during his spell was following the instructions of wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and bowling accordingly.
The move worked exceptionally well and Chahal was rewarded with the wicket of tailender Reece Topley for a golden duck. Pant’s ploy to dismiss a batter by instructing the bowler from behind the stumps was quite reminiscent of his predecessor and legendary skipper MS Dhoni, who used to give ideas to bowlers in a similar fashion.
Yuzvendra Chahal executes Rishabh Pant’s idea exceptionally well
This happened in the 46th over of the first innings. Before bowling the penultimate delivery of that over Rishabh Pant was heard telling Chahal, “Dande pe daal yahi ball thoda peeche aur rakhna” to which the bowler smiled and nodded his head. More importantly, the leggie did exactly as instructed by the stumper. He pitched one outside off stump which turned sharply after pitching and went on to disturb the batter’s furniture. Thus, the number 11 batter was dismissed and the hosts were bundled out for 259.

Chahal finished his spell with figures of 3/60 from his 9.5 overs at an economy of 6.1. He showcased yet another consistent performance in the ongoing ODI series after picking up 4/47 at Lord’s three days ago.
It was star all-rounder Hardik Pandya who was the pick of the Indian bowlers with figures of 4/24 from his seven overs at an economy rate of 3.42 including three maidens.
Coming to the Indian run chase, the Men in Blue have already lost the wickets of openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma along with Virat Kohli’s. The onus would now be on the middle-order to ensure that they find some much-needed momentum in this chase as India eye an ODI series victory on English soil after 2014.
